Aldi has expanded its wine assortment with the launch of its California Heritage Collection.

Aldi is giving wine lovers a new selection of reds and whites to choose from with the offerings priced at less than $5.

The retailer’s proprietary California Heritage Collection is sourced directly from renowned vineyards in the Golden State. The grocer said the collection was created in response to steady growth of Aldi wine sales, a surge in value-minded shoppers and demand for authentic, quality options from Millennial and Generation Z shoppers.

The new assortment includes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Moscato, Pink Moscato, Sweet Red, Brut Sparkling, and Extra Dry Sparkling. All of the new selections are priced at $4.95.

The California Heritage Collection launch comes some six months after Aldi popped the cork on its Specially Selected Wine Collection. That assortment includes five year-round and five seasonal wines from countries including Argentina, Italy, Spain, France and more, with half of the products priced under $10.

In an interview with Store Brands just after the launch of Specially Selected, Joan Kavanaugh, vice president of National Buying at Aldi, said the retailer has worked to make itself a destination for wine.

“We know Gen Z and Millennials view wine as something that can be enjoyed anywhere from at-home to special occasions, but don’t want to compromise on quality or price,” she said. “And, we know these generations, specifically, are also thinking about trading up in quality.”
