Canadian grocery chain Loblaws is elevating its private label offerings with the addition of new frozen pizzas hand-tossed in Italy.

PC Black Label Frozen Pizza is the latest expansion of the President’s Choice private brand. Priced at $7.99 CAD each, the new collection includes three varieties, each of which are hand-tossed by “skilled pizzaiolos in Italy and made with premium ingredients,” according to the retailer.

PC Black Label Frozen Pizza includes the following varieties, as described by the retailer:

  • Margherita - The new classic. Topped with a blend of cheeses and finished with cherry tomatoes.
  • Diavola - Bring bold home with Ventricina salami, smoked provola cheese, red onion and spices.
  • Funghi - Umami overload. A mix of three mushrooms and black truffle, completed with a velvety sauce.

“The hand-tossed pizza crust is what makes Italy known for its pizzas – those delicious, fresh ingredients combined with a crispy crust and soft inner dough makes your mouth water just thinking about it,” said Heather Fadali, VP of Loblaw Brands at Loblaw Companies Limited. “That was our goal when we started creating the PC Black Label Pizza. And that light and airy crust we know our customers are looking for is what you can now get at your table in less than 20 minutes.”

The expansion follows a May report from Technavio which found that the worldwide frozen pizza market is expected to grow an average of 5.5% annually through 2027, with private brands cited a key driver.

Loblaw Companies Limited operates nearly 2,500 stores and national e-commerce options across Canada.
