Jennifer Wojciechowski, senior director of sales at Mold-Rite Packaging, and Michael Urtiaga, enterprise sourcing manager of packaging at Kroger, joined Store Brands for its latest webinar, titled “Packaging and private label post-pandemic.”

The two guests discussed how packaging has changed in the past year with regard to private label, what factors go into product development, and what pressures are still impacting the industry. Wednesday’s webinar followed one from last year, also sponsored by Mold-Rite Packaging, titled “Covid-19: What Comes Next?”, which focused on how the pandemic would impact private label moving forward.

“From a supplier perspective, we definitely saw patterns in what our customers were purchasing to support consumer behavior,” said Wojciechowski. “The demand for many products surged while the labor market tightened, and like many suppliers we had to make adjustments. Consumer behaviors that had the greatest influence on our product demand included value. Consumers re-evaluated how they were spending and where.”

“Convenience and experience are huge areas that we focus on,” said Urtiaga. “We’re constantly seeking ways to evolve our packaging, ways that improve the experience for our customers.”
