Wet wipes producer working to test product against COVID-19
Nice-Pak, a producer of disinfecting wet wipes for private brands, said it is one of the first companies to test its products for efficacy against COVID-19.
The Orangeburg, N.Y.-based company is working with a contract testing lab Microbac to perform the testing. The company produces branded wet wipes under the names Grime Boss and Nice N’ Clean and many store brands. The disinfectant wipes are on an approved list by the Environmental Protection Agency as a disinfectant to use to help fight the continuing outbreak of the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2.
“Nice-Pak, who developed and commercialized the first disinfecting surface wipes, has been at the forefront of innovation for decades and continues to advance our offerings — which includes testing of current and emerging pathogens — as the need for disinfecting and cleaning products continues to increase,” said Jim Dalton, vice president and head of research and development at Nice-Pak. “Our partnership with Microbac will help us generate the necessary data for submission to the EPA to support claims against SARS-CoV-2, and ensure that our products offer effective solutions to keep people healthy.”
Nice-Pak’s sister-company, PDI, also announced its products, used in healthcare, foodservice and other professional environments, are also being tested against the virus by Microbac. The contract testing laboratory offers antimicrobial/antiviral testing for disinfectants, antiseptics, sanitizers and medical devices.
