West Liberty Foods highlights social responsibility measures

The private brand poultry and meat company issued its second Corporate Social Responsibility Report in the last three years.

West Liberty Foods, a meat and poultry producer, including for private brands, has released a 2021 Corporate Social Responsibility Report, highlighting achievements in environmental sustainability, animal welfare, food safety, social responsibility and community involvement.

This is the second report the company has released within the last three years. 

“Creating and maintaining sustainable practices is of the utmost importance at West Liberty Foods,” said Brandon Achen, president. “But, it is our team members who are at the heart of our sustainability successes. This report combines the story of West Liberty Foods’ stewardship with our demonstration of leadership, our pride in our team, our quality products and services, and our role within the food industry. I couldn’t be more proud of our achievements and I’m looking forward to seeing even more progress in the years to come.”

Some notable achievements by the West Liberty, Iowa-based producer, the company remains a Landfill Free Company, diverting less than 0.05% of waste to landfills. The company also highlights in the report its role in energy efficiency and consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and water withdrawal and recycling.

Last week, the company unveiled a new logo to reflect its technologically advanced business and to celebrate 25 years in business, as well as open a 7,000 sq. ft. innovation center in Bolingbrook, Ill., dedicated to enabling strategic customer collaboration and innovation. The center has development kitchens and areas for product showings, concept development, customer planning and brainstorming meetings.
