With consumers starting their holiday shopping earlier each year, Walmart has unveiled its plan for the season that includes deals on a host of products across the store.

Perhaps most noteworthy, the retailer will launch its initial Walmart Holiday Deals event at midnight on October 8, the same day Amazon will begin its two-day October Prime Days sales event. Walmart said its sales event, running through October 13, will feature “deep savings” in electronics, home, fashion, toys, and more.

“We know many of our customers are beginning to prepare for their holiday celebrations early, and we’ve adapted our approach to best meet their needs,” said Latriece Watkins, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, Walmart U.S. “We’ve worked hard to lower prices across our most exciting assortment ever, and we’re thrilled to give customers more of what they want this holiday – more time to prepare and more opportunities to save all season long.”

The October event is the kickoff event for Walmart during the holidays, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday events.

Additionally, Walmart will also offer specials on products used to cook a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The retailer’s holiday meal offering serves up to 10 people and includes 28 customer favorites – everything from turkey (under $1/lb.) and trimmings to dessert – for less than $7 per person.
