Tesco private brand bandages match diverse consumer skin tones

Per several reports, Tesco launched its own brand of fabric plasters or bandages for cuts in different skin tones, a first for a U.K. supermarket.

Under the Tesco Health brand name the plasters are in a light, medium and dark skin tone. The retailer said it was inspired to roll out the new own brand product after seeing a California man’s post on Twitter go viral when he shared last year the emotional experience he felt applying a bandage that matched his skin tone.

The tweet sparked many comments and shared experiences from other people around the world using plasters that never matched their skin tones.

"We believe the launch of our new skin tone plaster range is an important step and a move that we hope will be replicated by other retailers and supermarkets across the country."
