There are more than 1,100 versions of the classic board game Monopoly, celebrating cities, sports teams, movies and various themes, and now Target is joining the list.

The retailer announced an exclusive version of the Hasbro game to be released online and in stores in August. A chance to pre-order the item began on June 25.

Monopoly: Target Edition includes Target-centric features such as earning Target Circle tokens to save on purchases during the game, a nod to its loyalty program, and set pieces reflect the brand’s bullseye logo and puppy mascot. The fun twist of the game is that rather than buying property when a player passes Go, the player buys Target items to put into their shopping basket.

The retailer said in light of more time at home during COVID-19 that board game sales increased, as did puzzles. Target said, for example, it sold more than 5.5 million puzzles.

“Monopoly: Target Edition is the latest example of how we are always exploring new ways to spark moments of joy with all of our guests within our curated assortment of fan-favorite and Target-exclusive games and toys,” says Nik Nayar, senior vice president, hardlines, Target. “Thanks to the collaboration between Target and Hasbro, guests will enjoy the magic of Monopoly with all of the excitement of the ‘Target Run’ at the table.”
