Southeastern Grocers wins awards for ice cream, cheese

Three of Southeaster Grocer's ice cream SKUs and two cheese varieties win awards at World Dairy Expo

Jacksonville, Fla.-based Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of BI-LO, Fresco y Mas, Harveys and Winn-Dixie grocery stores, received awards for three private brand ice cream flavors and two private brand cheese varieties from the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association during the Championship Dairy Product Contest at the 2017 World Dairy Expo, which took place Oct. 3-7 in Madison, Wis.

Southeastern’s Prestige Raspberry Cone Crunch Ice Cream took first place in the Open Class Flavored Fruit category, while its Prestige French Vanilla Ice Cream took second place in the French Vanilla category. The retailer’s Prestige Chocolate Ice Cream came in third in the Regular Chocolate category.

Southeastern’s Swiss Chunk Cheese earned a second-place award in the Swiss Category and its Cracker Cuts Colby Jack Cheese earned a third-place award in the Colby/Monterey Jack category.

“It’s an honor to be recognized at a national level among other leaders in the dairy industry,” said Scott Morris, executive vice president of merchandising at Southeastern Grocers. “We’re proud of our award-winning ice creams and cheeses, which represent robust flavors, rich texture and quality ingredients at an affordable price for our customers to enjoy.”

This marks the third consecutive year that Southeastern Grocers has been recognized by the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association for ice cream, with top prizes awarded for Prestige French Vanilla in 2016 and Prestige Coconut Almond Fudge in 2015.
