Shredded cheese sold by Aldi in four states has been recalled over concerns that metal fragments may be in the product.

A recall has been issued for some 400 cases of shredded cheese sold by Aldi under its Happy Farms brand over concerns that metal fragments may be in the product.

Sold in Connecticut, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, the colby jack cheese (a blend of colby and monterey jack finely shredded cheeses) were sold in 12-ounce flexible plastic stand-up pouches. The product’s UPC is 4061463330840 and has a best by dates of July 13, 2025, and July 14, 2025.

The products were manufactured by Great Lakes Cheese of Hiram, Ohio.

Tast of Home reported the recall was first issued on February 16, but relisted as a Class II recall on March 19 by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. This reclassification means use or exposure to a “violative product” may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.

Consumers are advised to not use the product and either discard it or bring it back to an Aldi location for a refund.
