Publix Opens New Stores In Virginia, Georgia
Publix has opened new stores in Virginia and Georgia as the grocer continues to expand its presence across the Southeast.
The Lakeland, Fla.-based company’s newest Virginia store is in Chesapeake at 1620 Cedar Road. The 48,387-square foot location opened its doors on April 23 and will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The company now how more than 20 stores in the Commonwealth.
“We are thrilled to continue our growth across the Hampton Roads area with our newest location at Dominion Station,” said Jared Glover, media relations manager with Publix. "We look forward to welcoming our new customers and providing them with premier service, quality products and a pleasurable shopping experience.”
The store features several departments include deli, produce, bakery, seafood, pharmacy and pharmacy drive-thru, catering and Publix Delivery. Its meat selection is highlighted by the all-natural and organic GreenWise private label chicken.
Also on April 23, Publix opened its new Sharpsburg, Ga., store at 4957 Hwy 24 E. In celebration of the 48,387-square foot store, the first 95 shoppers to enter the store received a commemorative reusable bag highlighting the company’s 95th anniversary. The store will be open daily from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
"We’re excited to be part of the community of Sharpsburg and look forward to welcoming customers old and new to their new Publix," said Nicole Krauss, media relations manager with Publix.

Publix operates nearly 220 stores in the Peach State, and more than 1,400 locations across eight southern states.
In April, Publix expanded its store count by four. Prior to the grand openings in Virginia and Georgia, the grocer opened stores in Japser, Ga., on April 9, and Margate, Fla., on April 17.
