Hy-Vee Named Top Grocer In USA Today Report

The employee-owned grocer was also cited for its efforts in offering quality produce and prepared food.

Hy-Vee was named the best grocer in America by USA Today.

Hy-Vee has been voted the Best Grocery Store in Americaaccording to USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards, taking the top spot among the most-loved grocery stores in the country. 

This is the first year Hy-Vee has ranked No. 1 on the list. In previous years, the company has ranked within the top three spots. 

From the 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards, Hy-Vee was also voted America’s Best Grocery Store for Produce and ranked the No. 2 Best Grocery Store for Prepared Food in the nation.

Founded nearly 95 years ago, Hy-Vee operates more than 570 business units across the U.S. and is one of the largest employee-owned companies in the nation.  

USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards is conducted annually. A panel of experts nominates 20 grocery stores as the best in the U.S. for their offerings, selection, and great service.  USA Today readers are encouraged to cast their votes during a 28-day voting period. The nominated stores that received the most votes are designated as the Readers’ Choice for their category.  

Rounding out the Top-10 from second to 10th are The Fresh Market, Heinen’s Grocery Store, Stew Leonard’s, Gelson’s Market, AldiPublix Super MarketsTrader Joe’s, Wegmans, and Fresh Thyme Market.
