In the March issue of Store Brands, five key figures in the history of private label were unveiled as the next inductees into the Private Label Hall of Fame, presented by the Private Label Manufacturers Association and Store Brands. While the new inductees couldn’t be recognized during a ceremony at the March Leadership Conference, PLMA Live! filmed a special broadcast to honor the inductees.
The worthy recipients were to be honored during the March Leadership Conference that was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and rolled into the virtual Washington Conference being held Oct. 5-6.
The 2020 class of Hall of Fame inductees include: Jeff Needham of Perrigo, John Stanton of Saint Joseph’s University, Bill Bishop of Brick Meets Click, the late Peter Berlinski of Private Label Magazine and Private Label International, and Dieter Schwarz of Lidl.
The nominees from major retailers, private brand suppliers and the research and academic worlds join 65 other inductees since the award began in 2006.
The video includes interviews with Bishop, Needham and Stanton on their long histories in the industry, the work they’re proud of and thoughts on where the industry’s going. Bob Anderson of Store Brand Consulting spoke about his work with Berlinski on founding the hall of fame and the importance of Berlinkski’s journalistic leadership in the industry.
