Dolco Packaging, a Tekni-Plex business, is expanding its recycling initiatives by collaborating with Agilyx Corp. to assist with recycling the company’s polystyrene (PS) packaging and other polystyrene consumer goods.

Dolco is a leader in polystyrene egg cartons and food trays for agricultural, food and food service markets. The company has five plants across the U.S. and already recycles 4 million pounds annually out of its facility in Wenatchee, Wash. This includes post-industrial scrap and the company puts it back into the manufacturing process, said Jay Arnold, senior vice president and general manager at Dolco.

The Wayne, Pa.-based company is also using its Wenatchee facility to  support the community by being a collection point for consumers looking to recycle.

“For many years, we have also invited the local community to drop off used PS packaging. Now, we are increasing our efforts by taking what we have collected from the community, as well as some of our industrial scrap, and giving it to Agilyx who will use its proprietary technology to recycle it into next-generation PS,” Arnold said.

“We are very excited to be working with Dolco to create new circular pathways for post-use PS,” said Joe Vaillancourt, CEO of Agilyx. “We value their commitment to increase plastic recovery and recycling. It is our mission to increase plastic recovery globally from 10% to 90% through new plastic collection programs with companies that see the value. Dolco has proven to be a true leader in post use plastic stewardship.”
