National Pet Month, Memorial Day hosts store brands

Target celebrated its Boots & Barkley store brand for pets during its National Pet Month promotion on Target.com.

The store brand carries adorable pet clothing (notably some Pride bandanas and gear for the promotion), toys, snacks, dog beds, mats, accessories and more. The pet promotion ran all May, and included savings on items from both its store brand items and national brands.

Kroger

As expected with Memorial Day on Monday, Kroger’s innovative new weekly activity kits to download at home feature a Memorial Day kit this week. Fun social challenges included sharing pictures online of crazy, flavorful and creative hot dogs, of a favorite beer and of patriotic chalk drawings.

Recipes included a chili that called for a slew of store brands: Simple Truth beef, Kroger Prime Rib & Horseradish Potato Chips, and Simple Truth kidney beans, tomato sauce and diced tomatoes.

There was also a Private Selection Vanilla Ice Cream to mix with red cream soda for a special drink and a spiked tea drink utilizing Simple Truth Earl Grey Black Tea.

CVS Pharmacy

Also out there, a CVS Pharmacy in the Tampa, Fla. area, stacked 24-count packs of its Just the Basics bottled waters high along an endcap. The waters looked as though they went right off the pallet and readied to go right out the store, tied to a $2.99 promotion with limits to only buy two per customer, as water is a popular item during the coronavirus pandemic and Florida had been getting high temps. Style points on the stacking, too.
