With schools closed and many people working from home, Michaels has launched a contactless, same-day delivery service and a pickup option that furthers its social-distancing policy.
The crafting and arts retailer carries a variety of private brand products that can help teachers at home, moms and dads who are becoming teachers at home through e-learning with their kids, and workers who are now working out of their makeshift home offices. The products fall under its Creatology, ArtMinds and Studio Decor store brands.
Michaels debuted the contactless, same-day delivery on April 17 for select U.S. locations in Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, North Carolina, and will expand to its full 1,270 stores next week.
The retailer said orders placed before 1 p.m. received same-day delivery but after that it becomes next-day delivery. Packages are placed at the doorstep and there is no contact with a driver. The driver rings a doorbell and knocks after dropping off the items.
