Martin’s Super Markets now popping own-brand gourmet popcorn

12/15/2014

Martin’s Super Markets, South Bend, Ind., announced the introduction of Martin’s Signature Specialty Popcorn, produced daily in the recently opened Martin's Specialty Popcorn Shoppe of its Granger, Ind., store. The gluten-free whole-grain popcorn is made from Indiana-grown corn and contains no trans fat.

Available in both individual- and family-size packages — with larger sizes to be available in the near future — the line includes such varieties as Marvelous Mix, CaramelKrunch with Prarline Pecans, Deluxe CaramelKrunch with Honey Roasted Peanuts and White Chocolate Drizzle, Deluxe CheddarCorn, Deluxe CaramelCorn and Rainbox Munch-kin Mix, as well as Christmas Mix and Reindeer Trax seasonal selections. Martin’s said it will expand the line with specialty roasted nuts and candy combinations, all made in the Popcorn Shoppe.

“So many of our customers told us they were looking for a gourmet popcorn here in Michiana just like the kind they enjoy in Chicago and other large cities,” said Phil Plummer, Martin’s vice president, sales and marketing. “We did a lot of research and made the decision to invest in the right equipment and the right people. We think the flavor combos we’ve developed are just right, and we have plans to introduce even more selections down the road.”
