Macy's Revamps Leadership Team
Macy’s is restructuring its executive leadership team as the department store continues to advance its “Bold New Chapter” strategy designed to return the retailer to long-term profitable growth.
Thomas J. Edwards will serve as chief operating officer and chief financial officer at Macy’s, Inc., effective June 22. Barbie Cameron, Macy’s chief stores officer, will report directly to Tony Spring, the company’s chairman and CEO, effective June 22. Maly Bernstein, CEO of Bluemercury, will report to Olivier Bron, CEO of Bloomingdale’s, effective May 1.
Additionally, Adrian Mitchell will be leaving the company. He will continue in his current capacity as chief operating officer and chief financial officer through June 21.
“With these changes, we complete a purposeful evolution of the Macy’s, Inc. leadership team, and I am confident that we have the right talent to support the return of Macy’s, Inc. to enterprise growth,” said Spring.
Edwards is joining Macy’s from Capri Holdings Limited, where he serves as chief financial officer and chief operating officer. During his tenure, he spearheaded the acquisition and integration of global fashion brands Versace and Jimmy Choo and implemented shared systems and capabilities, including a global ERP platform, and generated significant savings across brands, functions, and regions.
Before joining Capri, Edwards was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Chili’s owner Brinker International, Inc., and has held numerous finance and operations positions at Wyndham Hotel Group, Kraft Foods, and Nabisco Food Service Company.
Cameron was appointed as chief stores officer on February 16, where she leads store operations across the Macy’s nameplate. Soon reporting directly to Spring, Cameron will partner even more closely with the executive team to spearhead initiatives to modernize Macy’s, improve the shopping environment, and elevate the customer and colleague experience.
Bernstein joined Bluemercury as CEO in September 2021 with responsibility for all aspects of the Bluemercury brand, from its digital platform to stores. As of May 1, she will report directly to Bron, partnering to further accelerate growth and connectivity across the two luxury nameplates.
