Following a recent series of store closures across the eastern portion of the United States, Lidl is opening a new location in New Jersey.

Slated for a September 13 grand opening, the store at 191 E. Hanover Ave. in the North Jersey community, shoppers will be able to try free samples with the first 100 customers in line receiving Lidl gift cards ranging from $5 to $100.

A report in the Daily Record noted the store will be part of the 140,000 square foot Morris Marketplace shopping center, construction of which began more than two years ago. The site was home to the former Colgate-Palmolive corporate campus.

With more than 20 stores in the Garden State, the new store opening follows a series of decisions by the German grocery to strategically close some locations in New Jersey and in other states.

Additionally, Lidl US in August announced a change at its highest level as Joel Rampoldt was named company CEO. He replaced Michal Lagunionek who stepped down.
