Kroger has reopened one of its downtown Indianapolis locations following the completion of a $2 million renovation project.

Located at 227 W. Michigan St., the store is in the heart of the Indiana capital and now showcases updated decor, new displays, and expanded product selection.

“These are exciting times for us as we continue to invest in our stores,” said Michelle Phanthavongsa, division vice president at Kroger. “Today’s celebration is part of a year-long plan to present stores where Hoosiers love to shop and associates love to work. We will have more of these events in the weeks ahead as we strive for even more stores that are always Full, Fresh, and Friendly.”

As part of the grand opening celebration, Kroger donated $130,000 to Gleaners Food Bank, which was founded in 1980 and is now the largest hunger relief organization in Indiana.

"Gleaners and Kroger have been partners since our founding,” said Gail Lowry, chief philanthropy officer at Gleaners, “and we are so grateful for today’s donation. It is just the latest example of the year-round support we receive from Kroger. Today’s gift from Kroger will help us provide 1,040,000 meals to Hoosiers in need.”
