Each week for the next five weeks, H-E-B said it will be delivering its H-E-B Meal Simple microwavable meals to Texas area healthcare workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis, this includes doctors, nurses and emergency room workers that are helping patients directly impacted by the pandemic.

The donation carries a value of $350,000. The store brand microwavable meals are ready to eat in under two minutes to help feed workers quickly as they deal with patients.

The food program donation is just another move by the San Antonio-based retailer that has already donated a whopping $3 million to local nonprofit organizations that are helping seniors, children and low-income families during the pandemic.

“We’re all extremely grateful for the dedication of our healthcare workers who are saving lives and making personal sacrifices for others,” said Winell Herron, H-E-B group vice president of public affairs, diversity and environmental affairs. “We want to express some well-deserved appreciation and hope these meals will provide a bit of comfort during these trying times.”
