Giant Company, Keep PA Beautiful Announce Tree Grant Program
The Giant Company is partnering with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful on the "Healing the Planet" grant program that invests in tree planting across the grocer’s operating areas in the Keystone State.
The Carlisle, Pa.-based grocer is funding the program that awards $112,000 to tax-exempt organizations for tree-planting projects this year. Eligible projects must be shovel-ready and include tree planting and direct tree-planting costs.
“From providing food and keeping the streets of our communities cool to providing canopy and habitat for wildlife, trees benefit us every day,” said Courtney Hopcraft, manager of community relations and charitable giving with The Giant Company. “Building on the success of last year’s program, which added more than 3,000 trees to communities across the Commonwealth, we’re excited to once again join forces with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful to bring more trees to our communities.”
The 2025 "Healing the Planet" grant program is accepting online applications for grants of up to $4,000 through July 1, 2025, via the Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful website. Eligible expenses include, but are not limited to, trees native to Pennsylvania, equipment, tree signage, tools, and supplies. Preference will be given to applications that aim to plant the highest number of trees. Awards will be announced in late July.
This is the fifth year The Giant Company has partnered with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful to offer "Healing the Planet" grants. Over the past four years, more than $1.2 million has been awarded to 140 recipients for projects that connected people and families to green spaces, improved or helped to protect local waterways and water resources, supported projects that addressed food waste prevention, reduction, and recovery, and promoted tree-planting initiatives.
“Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful is proud to support communities across the Commonwealth in planting native trees, a simple act that brings lasting impact,” said Heidi Pedicone, director of programs, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful. “Greener neighborhoods not only enhance beauty but also help deter littering and other illegal activities, creating safer, more vibrant places to live, work, and play. We’re grateful to continue our partnership with The Giant Company.”
