From the Editors: Far apart, but still face to face

Welcome to the first day of PLMA Live: Private Label Week.

While it is unlike anything we could have imagined just a year ago, hats off to the PLMA staff for having the foresight and abilities to put together this digital event in a relatively short window.

Over the next five days, the private label industry will be treated to a number of outstanding speakers and presentations, all geared to helping our industry maximize its potential, during these odd times and, hopefully, for the much more normal times ahead. Plus, thanks to modern technology, we have the ability to meet face-to-face, though not in person, through digital portals that are almost as good as the real thing.

Store Brands is doing its part, too. Our daily PLMA special newsletter is designed to help attendees navigate the events, giving a synopsis on each day’s speeches and what is in store for the next day. Also, we will have a Best-in-Show contest with winners highlighted in our March issue.

As with just about any industry, the private label industry needs events to allow all of us to directly communicate, share data and other information and simply get to know each other. This is a great chance to take advantage of the hard work of PLMA to associate with retailers, suppliers and other key industry officials.

Hopefully, and with fingers tightly crossed, we will all be together in Chicago in November to talk about these five days. Until then, enjoy this event and we all hope that you will get much out of it.
