Eat in and stream: Home Chef partners with Peacock Premium

Dinner and streaming go hand in hand, so Kroger’s exclusive meal solutions brand Home Chef is leveraging a promotion that gives consumers a limited-time access to Peacock Premium, the new streaming service from NBC Universal.

By the end of November, consumers have a chance to order Home Chef for delivery (at $60 off its regular price) and also earn one free month of Peacock Premium. The promotion comes at a time when consumers are eating more at home during the pandemic and they’re streaming more at home, too.

Home Chef meal kits at home work by consumers signing up online and filling out their taste and diet preferences to get custom recipes for a week’s worth of meals (you tell them how many meals you plan on cooking). Then a box is shipped to the home cook’s home to prepare the meals.

Not just a delivery service, Home Chef products are offered exclusively in Kroger stores, too.

For example, this month, inside more than 2,000 Kroger stores, Home Chef  introduced brand-new Heat & Eat Soups and Siciilian-Style Pizzas to its Home Chef line. The soups range in flavors from classic Chicken Noodle to a Thai Style Chicken Coconut Curry. Other flavors include Broccoli Cheddar, Creamy Tomato, Beef Chili with Beans and more.

The new pizza option expanded the line of take-and-bake pizzas in a Sicilian style, which is a thicker doughy crust and comes with premium toppings like a pork sausage alfredo pizza, four cheese pepperoni, and a margherita pizza.

“Our new product lines are the latest examples of Home Chef’s ability to satisfy customer needs with convenient, creative and delicious meal solutions,” said Home Chef founder and CEO Pat Vihtelic. “The pandemic and resulting stay-at-home orders continue to impact the way people prep, shop for and cook their meals. With up to 19 weekly rotating recipes on homechef.com and meal kits available in 2,000 Kroger stores, Home Chef helps keep your dinner time routine fresh.”

Kroger acquired Home Chef in 2018. Earlier in the summer, the company, which delivers more than 3.5 million meals monthly, also announced a vegan collaboration with meat-free supplier Impossible Foods.

For Thanksgiving, the service is planning to deliver dinners that also come in a plant-based option, and will have meals offered in Kroger stores.
