CVS Expands Sustainable Product Offerings

The drug chain has added several new reusable and compostable products to its Total Home private label assortment.

Pharmacy retailer CVS has added a number of new sustainable private label products to its portfolio including reusable storage bags and compostable dinnerware.

Joining the Total Home and Total Home Earth Essentials private brands, CVS launched the new items for “shoppers who seek eco-friendly products for their home or on-the-go.” The product launches follow CVS’ recent addition of aluminum-bottled water to its Gold Emblem brand.

The new items include the following:

  • Total Home Reusable Food Storage Bags, 32oz, 2 Pack - $12.99 
  • Total Home Assorted Size Reusable Bags, 3 pack - $9.99 
  • Total Home Assorted Size Reusable Bags, 6 pack - $14.99 
  • Total Home Earth Essentials Compostable Assorted Cutlery - $5.99 
  • Total Home Earth Essentials Compostable Dinner Napkins - $4.99 
  • Total Home Earth Essentials Compostable Paper Straws - $5.99 
  • Total Home Earth Essentials Durable Compostable Straws - $5.99 
  • Total Home Earth Essentials Compostable Dinner Plates, 9” - $7.99 
  • Total Home Earth Essentials Compostable Dessert Plates, 6” - $4.99 
  • Total Home Earth Essentials Compostable Bowls, 12oz - $6.99 
  • Total Home Earth Essentials Compostable Cold Cups, 16oz - $10.99 
  • Total Home Earth Essentials Compostable Hot Cups, 12oz - $8.99 

These new items reinforce CVS’ goal to reduce single-use plastic in private label packaging and use in operations by 50% by 2030. Additionally, CVS says it is working to ensure that all private label packaging is 100% reusable, recyclable and compostable or can be returned to a local CVS store to be properly disposed of by 2030. 

Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS Pharmacy operates more than 9,000 locations nationwide.
