Big Lots TV spot shines light on associates
Discount retailer Big Lots launched a sentimental TV and digital spot that pays tribute to its store associates, showing them wipe down shelves, sanitize cart handles and continue to work during a difficult time amid the coronavirus pandemic. The ad even spots a worker stocking Big Lots brand of toilet paper.
The sweet visuals in the ad are accompanied by a cover of the song “Put a Little Love in Your Heart,” by the artists Dominque & Redah, which a quarter of the income earned from the song will be donated to healthcare workers. The 30-second TV ad is running until May 12 on cable and local TV nationwide. The video is also running on YouTube (already well over 1 million views), social media and via programmatic video.
Big Lots is based in Columbus, Ohio, operating 1,400 stores in 47 stores with a wide assortment of private label product across furniture, seasonal, soft home, food, consumables, toys and more.
"As an essential retailer, we are providing must-have items to individuals and families during this challenging time. We could not do this without our unsung heroes: our store associates," said Stephen Haffer, senior vice president, chief customer officer at Big Lots. "They've worked tirelessly to help customers during this crisis, and we wanted their hard work and care to be recognized."
