Arcade Beauty is reducing the amount of plastic it uses in product packaging with the launch of its 80% Paper Packette.

According to the company, the new packaging solution is the first recycle-ready mono-dose, small-size beauty sample, replacing the traditional foil sachet/packette. Designed with sustainability in mind, the packaging reduces plastic with an innovative 80% paper material that meets critical repulpability requirements, allowing it to enter the paper recycling stream.

For brands, transitioning samples from a traditional foil sachet format to Arcade Beauty’s paper structure will deliver substantial environmental benefits, including a 76% reduction in plastic use and a 63% decrease in carbon dioxide emissions. The Packette was developed in collaboration with the cosmetics company Origins.

"At Origins, we believe in harnessing the power of nature and science to create high-performing skincare while advancing packaging sustainability," said Lauren De Sanctis, executive director of Global Packaging. "Partnering with Arcade Beauty to bring the 80% Paper Packette to life reflects our ambition to implement our conscious packaging pillars. By transitioning our sampling formats to this innovative solution, we are taking another significant step toward our conscious packaging goals— advancing the use of recyclability by design and recycled content use, as well as minimizing plastic use associated with multi-material samples."

Officials with Arcade Beauty said the new packaging is part of the company’s mission to enable smart sampling and responsible full-size products through packaging sustainability innovation. This includes reducing packaging weight and plastic use, and additional benefits including integrating recycled and certified materials.

“We are very excited to launch this new product, which took two years to develop in collaboration with Origins,” said Carl Allain, CEO & president of Arcade Beauty. “We are very proud to be able to continue reducing our carbon emissions and provide our customers with more sustainable packaging solutions.”
