Wegmans sued for its private label ice cream

Rochester, N.Y.-based Wegmans Food Markets is being sued for allegedly falsely stating what’s in its private label ice cream.

According to media outlet Today News, two shoppers said the retailer’s vanilla premium ice cream contains no vanilla at all. Further, the lawsuit claims that consumers expect vanilla ice cream to be flavored by "real vanilla" from a vanilla plant and since the company’s ice cream gets its vanilla flavoring from non-vanilla sources, it’s misleading to the consumer.
