Wegmans highlights necessities

Wegmans has long been beloved for its experiential feel, large offering of in-store prepared foods and its wide selection of private brand products. The company’s only New York City outpost at the Brooklyn Navy Yard is no exception, and Store Brands in the Wild took a visit.

Though the pandemic has changed how in-store food is prepared, moving toward pre-packaged options, a recent trip still found a good amount of foodservice options, from rotisserie chickens to sushi.

While store brands were on display throughout the store, one area where the store excelled was in paper goods and laundry detergent. The well-stocked paper goods, in particular, were a welcomed site when out-of-stocks have been the norm for that category.

Additionally, the retailer promoted its house brand of laundry detergent with a full endcap of that highlighted the selection.

And in canned goods, Wegmans' store brand was on full display, with the retailer still imposing some quantity limits on canned products in high demand.
