Wayne Farms has expanded its new chicken breast products into retail and they are available for private brand development. The products had preivously only been available for foodservice.
The new products consist of a Wayne Farms Chef’s Craft Flame Grilled Chicken Breast Fillet and Grilled Chicken Breast Chunks that are launching in the fall to more than 2,400 Walmart stores and 1,000 Food Lion locations.
Oakwood, Ga.-based Wayne Farms said it is one of the first food manufacturers to use a sous-vide cooking method which requires consumers to prepare the vacuum-sealed chicken in water. The chicken products in-store are fully cooked and frozen, and ready for an easy-to-prepare meal. The chicken is 100% farm-raised and contains no nitrates, MSG or artificial ingredients.
“Expanding Chef’s Craft chicken into retail gives consumers access to the same high-quality products they would expect in restaurants,” said Megan Ernst, senior marketing manager, Wayne Farms. “This is especially important during the current pandemic as families are cooking at home more often and seeking products that are nutritious, easy to prepare and affordable. Shoppers can serve their families a delicious meal they will love without going through the hassle of taking hours to prepare a dish.”
Operating 11 plants, Wayne Farms is the seventh-largest vertically integrated poultry producer in the United States with annual sales exceeding $2 billion. It is a subsidiary of Continental Grain.
