Walmart is tapping into Facebook’s livestream shopping program, hosting an event with Ree Drummond and her daughter Alex over the platform to highlight some of the pair’s favorite products from their exclusive Pioneer Woman Collection at Walmart.
Drummond is an influencer behind a blog site and social platforms called The Pioneer Woman, sharing recipes and style tips that are country inspired.
The Walmart products include heavily floral and brightly designed cookware, bakeware, apparel, seasonings and cooking products under the Pioneer Woman name. Facebook viewers visit the live show on the Walmart Facebook page or at Walmart.com/live, set for 5 p.m., ET, May 27, and can shop the items being presented during the stream. Ree and Alex will engage with viewers, answering questions, sharing inspirations for the products and also presenting exclusive items only available during the livestream experience.
While this event is on a Thursday, Facebook recently announced it would be hosting “Live Shopping Fridays” events on the platform beginning May 22 and running into July featuring live shopping streams from fashion and lifestyle brands and retailers like Sephora, Abercrombie & Fitch and Bobbi Brown.
Kind of like a social version of QVC, the live shopping feature from Facebook enables viewers to click on items being presented to learn more about them and to instantly add to a cart and buy. Viewers can submit questions to hosts and engage with the livestream.
“Live Shopping combines the fun of live video with the convenience of online shopping and offers businesses the unique opportunity to connect with their customers in a truly engaging format,” said Nada Stirratt, VP, global marketing solutions, North America, Facebook. “We're so thrilled to work with Walmart on their upcoming Live Shopping stream, which will feature the latest products from Ree Drummond and create an entertaining environment to engage with their shoppers."
