Walgreens Boots Alliance announces new director

Walgreens Boots Alliance, the parent company of Walgreens and other pharmacy retailers, has announced a new appointment to its board of directors. Steven Shulman has joined the board, and will aid in overseeing the company’s private label strategy.

Walgreens Boots Alliance’s largest chain, Walgreens, recently announced a sourcing event to help find new, diverse private label suppliers. Walgreens’ Certainty own brand was selected by Store Brands as one of 2021’s best private label ad campaigns.

“Steven is a tremendous addition to our board of directors. His vast leadership experience and in-depth knowledge across the healthcare spectrum will be invaluable as we move into our next phase of being a market leader at the center of community healthcare,” said Stefano Pessina, executive chairman of Walgreens Boots Alliance.

Shulman currently serves as the chairman of CareCentrix, Inc. and SOC Telemed. He also serves as co-chairman of HealthMap Solutions and as lead director of VillageMD. He is a director of several other privately held companies, including Facet Technologies, Ensemble Healthcare Partners and Pager, Inc. Shulman is also managing partner at Shulman Family Ventures, Inc., a private equity firm.
