Tustin, Calif.-based Vitatech Nutritional Sciences Inc. announced the sale of its nutritional products manufacturing business to Kingdomway USA LLC. Vitatech is a legacy contract manufacturer of nutritional and dietary supplements founded over 60 years ago in Orange County, Calif. Kingdomway USA LLC, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the world’s largest manufacturer of coenzyme Q10 and other commonly used raw materials. The new company will be named Vit-Best Nutrition Inc. and will offer all of the products and services for which Vitatech is known, including powders, two-piece capsules, tablets, capsule banding, enteric coating, custom coating, full-range packing services and product formulation.

Vit-Best will be led by Gale Bensussen, who on Sept. 8 assumes the roles of both CEO and president. Bensussen brings extensive nutritional supplement manufacturing experience to the firm, the company said. He was a founding partner and former president of Leiner Health Products, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of nutritional supplements and over-the counter drugs. During his 32 years with Leiner, his many accomplishments included leading nine acquisitions and integrations. Since 2006, Bensussen served as CEO of Doctor’s Best, a science-based nutritional supplement company located in San Clemente, Calif.

Thomas Tierney, Vitatech’s founding president and CEO, will serve as a senior advisor to Vit-Best. All other members of Vitatech’s management and staff will remain at Vit-Best in their current roles. Vit-Best will continue to manufacture from Vitatech’s pharmaceutically licensed cGMP facility in Tustin.

“As a contract manufacturer,” Bensussen stated, “Vit-Best will remain intensely focused on providing the highest quality nutritional and dietary supplements as we move forward in the global market for nutritional products.”
