Trader Joe’s pumps out pumpkin treats
It’s pumpkin season at Trader Joe’s. Episode 29 of the retailer’s fun podcast, “Inside Trader Joe’s,” discussed some new pumpkin-flavored items available now and on the way, and some product posts on the retailer’s website highlighted some new pumpkin-inspired items.
A notable item covered both in the podcast and online are new Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Batons, a tubular wafer cookie filled with sweet, pumpkin-flavored cream and has a taste of pumpkin pie spices.
The cookies are delicious on their own or dipped into coffee or ice cream, per the podcast. The batons are available now and similar to the retailer’s Cocoa Batons and Vanilla Batons.
Also in the dessert aisle, new Pumpkin Spice Pretzel Slims have launched, a pretzel with white chocolate and pumpkin spiced pumpkin seeds. They’re similar to the holiday Peppermint Pretzel Slims.
Also on the way is a Pumpkin Brioche bread that the podcast said will be a very limited item to find, and a Pumpkin Curry Simmer Sauce is available that tastes similar to a Thai curry or Indian curry for seasoning products or it can be spooned out of the jar directly.
Both on the website and the podcast, Trader Joe’s called out its Mini Spicy Pumpkin Samosas in the frozen section. It’s an appetizer, a pumpkin-flavored take on the traditional Indian mini, flaky, golden pies. The filling is a mix of paneer cheese, chunks of pumpkin and a range of spices such as garam masala, cumin, coriander, chili powder and fennel seeds. The item is a true, Trader Joe’s exclusive.
As one podcaster said, “They're really good with a number of different kinds of sauces. You know, we've tried them with a chutney, but also with our Sweet Chili Sauce, which takes its inspiration from Thai cuisine and the Hot and Sweet Pepper Jelly. These taste really good dipped in any of those.”
Other items include a traditional pumpkin pie, a pumpkin empanada, a Thanksgiving inspired Everything But The Leftovers seasoning, a Turkey Pumpkin Mole Burrito and much more.
