Tops Friendly Markets has completed remodeling its store at 425 Niagara St. in Buffalo, and the location now includes several unique features, including the first dedicated Hispanic cheese shoppe in Western New York.

A celebration of the $1.3 million in renovation project is scheduled for June 3 at 9 a.m. During the ribbon-cutting celebration, Tops, along with Store Manager Russ Granata, will present donations to local community non-profits including first responders, schools, food pantries, and veteran organizations.

“This considerable investment will offer customers a renewed shopping experience starting with associates that the community knows and trusts, expanded amenities, and a wide variety of high-quality local, national, and private label brands—all at a great value,” said Ron Ferri, president of Tops Friendly Markets. “We are excited to officially re-open this location, signifying our continued commitment to the City of Buffalo.”

The remodeled store’s shoppers will see a new storefront, fresh interior and exterior paint with inviting awnings and landscaping, energy-efficient equipment, LED lighting throughout, new shopping carts and corrals, expanded state-of-the-art self-checkouts, renovated restrooms, and a larger fresh perimeter featuring updated décor.

Enhanced Store Features Include:

  • Pharmacy Upgrades: A new private waiting area and expanded services including specialty prescriptions, immunizations, DMV vision tests, and COVID-19 boosters for those age 65 and over.
  • Tops Fuel Station.
  • Online Services: Fast grocery pickup, delivery, and catering through partnerships with Instacart and now DoorDash.
  • M&T Bank Branch: Located inside the store. Trusted resource for personal banking needs.
  • Flashfood App: Save up to 60% on fresh items like produce, meat, deli, bakery, and dairy while helping reduce food waste.
  • Field & Fork Network partnership: Double Up Food Bucks program providing produce cash back for SNAP users.

“At Tops, we continuously evaluate how to best serve our customers and reinvest in our communities. These enhancements help make shopping more convenient, affordable, and enjoyable,” said Tim Tripi, district manager at Tops.

The store also features in-store butchers cutting 100% USDA Choice premium beef daily, produce sourced from more than 500 local growers and dairy farmers, and a specialty ethnic produce mix. The store is home to the first dedicated Hispanic cheese shoppe in Western New York, and the bakery offers scratch-made breads, pastries, donuts, and traditional Puerto Rican Cidrines bread.

Shoppers will also have access to expanded grab-and-go meals including rotisserie and fried chicken, fresh prepared salads, breakfast pizza, and made-to-order subs.
