Target’s ongoing store renovation project has hit a milestone as the retailer recently put the final touches on its 1,000th remodel that features the company’s latest design.

According to Target, its stores-first strategy has paid off with those stores receiving a facelift seeing a 2% to 4% bump in sales in the first year after the remodel project is complete. This year, another 200 renovations are planned.

Additionally, the retailer is also undertaking almost 200 fulfillment remodeling projects with a focus on building capacity for its same-day services that include Order Pickup and Drive Up. Some stores will also have new Drive Up canopies that are said to improve safety and protect employees  and customers from the elements.

The new stores also include new elements tied to its Target Forward goals. This includes switching stores to natural refrigerants by 2040 in an effort to reduce emissions. The company is also building on its 150 locations that offer electric vehicle charging stations with additional installs at select locations across the country
