Target's Private Label Diapers Outshine Rivals in Consumer Reports Test
In a rating of more than 60 different types of baby diapers by Consumer Reports, a private label line from one of the biggest retailers in the U.S. came out on top.
Target’s up&up absorbent & soft diapers were selected as the periodical’s Top Pick and Value Pick, receiving an overall score of 97 and were rated 5 out of 5 for absorption speed and dryness.
“It’s not often that our Top Pick and Value Pick are one and the same, but when it comes to disposable diapers, our experts were impressed by the Target Up&Up Absorbent Soft Diapers,” Consumer Reports wrote. “The fact that it was among the most budget-friendly of all the disposable diapers we tested made it also our Value Pick.”
Available in sizes from newborn to eight, the diapers have a wetness indicator and are designed with a pocketed waistband at the back to help control blowouts. The diapers are also free of fragrance, elemental chlorine, and lotion, making them a good choice for babies with sensitive skin.
For example, a pack of 168 size 1 up&up diapers is priced at $26, or $0.15 per diaper.
Other private label diapers recommended by Consumer Reports are Member’s Mark Premium Diapers from Sam’s Club (overall score of 84), and Costco’s Kirkland Signature Diapers (overall score of 73).
Target’s up&up brand was also top ranked in the overnight diaper category. The diapers excelled in Consumer Reports testing for absorption speed and dryness, absorbing liquids quickly and locking in moisture. Offered in sizes 3 to 7, the diapers offer a wetness indicator.
The up&up overnight diapers are priced at $20 per pack, or $0.34 per diaper. They received a rating of 92 and a 5 out of 5 for absorption speed and dryness.
