Target is getting an early start on the holiday selling season with its initial savings event kicking off Oct. 6 with the return of its Deal Days.

Offering sales on hundreds of thousands of deals in stores and online, the sales event is starting earlier than ever, according to Target. Also, the retailer is extending its Holiday Price Match Guarantee, which will run from October 6 through Christmas Eve.

"The holidays are a treasured time when our guests come together with family and friends to celebrate the joy of the season, and we're here to make that as easy as possible for them to enjoy," said Christina Hennington, executive vice president and chief growth officer at Target. "That's why we're rolling out deals earlier than ever and ensuring our team is ready to help our guests shop when and how they want.”

She noted that throughout the season, shoppers will find various items for gifting and gathering, including only-at-Target owned brands.

The Minneapolis-based retailer is also expanding its ranks with plans to hire up to 100,000 employees for its stores and supply chain facilities nationwide.

On the product side, Target continues to expand its assortment of toys that include the recently announced agreement with FAO Schwarz. Items under the venerable toy brand will be available exclusively at Target beginning in mid-October. Additionally, various shop-in-shops will provide shoppers unique items and new festive food and beverage items, family apparel and gifts and home decor will also be available.
