SustPack 2016 conference and exhibition to be held April 11-13

2/4/2016

SustPack 2016, a three-day event offering a comprehensive look at how businesses are leading their sustainable initiatives through packaging design and sustainable materials, will take place April 11-13 at McCormick Place in Chicago, according to the event organizers, GreenBlue's Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) and Smithers Pira.

Building off the highly successful SustPack 2015 conference, the 2016 event is expected to attract approximately 500 key stakeholders and will continue to serve the needs of the entire supply chain, from material suppliers and converters to brand owners and other end users. With a focus on “Business Made Sustainable," SustPack 2016 will bring insightful presentations on sustainability's effect on ROI, corporate goal setting and execution, and what's new in traditional packaging systems. It also will include case studies of brands that lead, as well as cities that are paving the way for systems, the organizers said.

This year’s event will also include dedicated SPC Industry Leadership Committee meetings; a variety of site tours: Method Soap Factory and Goose Island Brewery just to name a few; workshops on compostability and packaging design; breakout sessions; panel discussions; and special evening receptions, including dinner and dialogue events taking place at green restaurants throughout the city. Content selection will be guided by consulting experts, including SPC and Smithers Pira representatives and industry stakeholders.

“The Sustainable Packaging Coalition looks forward to partnering with Smithers Pira for the second year to host SustPack 2016,” said Nina Goodrich, executive director of GreenBlue. “Hot topics for discussion include continued exploration of the interdependence of business and sustainability, including emerging best practices for sustainability strategy, materiality and goal setting. Leadership will be a key theme as it pertains to brands that lead, cities that lead and the ROI of sustainability.”

Barbara Fowler, conference director for Smithers Pira, called the conference and exhibition a "must-attend" event.

"With business executives, R&D leaders sustainability directors and government policymakers slated to attend, SustPack 2016 will be a great opportunity to focus solely on how businesses can be more sustainable, while building strategic relationship and getting up to speed on the most current research and information affecting the industry, she said."
