Summer snacks from Trader Joe’s

The retailer’s podcast talked up new product launches this summer such as strawberry and jalapeno crackers and a Brazil nut body butter.

From snacks to body butter, Trader Joe’s teed up new product launches for the summer during its latest podcast. 

Episode 38 dove into the summer, aka the swimsuit edition of the retailer’s venerable podcast, joked podcasters Tara Miller and Matt Sloan, and they began with treats inspired by its Key Lime Pie, which comes back every summer. The store has Key Lime Tea Cookies and Lemon Baton Wafter Cookies, both returning summer treats, but it’s also rolling out Key Lime Kettlecorn.

Additional snacks mentioned in the podcast: Strawberry & Jalapeno Crisps, which can be used for cheeses, dips or eaten as a snack cracker, Hatch Chile Cheddar Seasoned Popcorn and Carolina Gold Barbecue Ridge Cut Kettle Potato Chips, featuring a mustard and molasses Carolina Gold Sauce flavor.

Another new product is a Brazil Nut Body Butter made with acai and guarana extracts, a creamy coconut oil based body butter to soothe skin. The product’s made with Brazil nuts, which the podcast said Brazil nut trees can grow more than 100 feet high and the nuts are harvested after the fruit falls.

Also in nonfood, the retailer introduced a dog treat: Deli Style Corn Beef Flavored Dog Treats. In grocery, the podcast spotlighted a Calrose rice, a medium-grain rice, as well as a new Cold Brew Barbecue Sauce that is made with coffee.

For the grill, the retailer’s introducing USDA choice grade Angus tri-tip kebabs with a sweet and savory marinade and one with a Thai-style coconut curry sauce. There’s no vegetables on the skewers, just two eight ounces of meat. 

Lastly in beverages, the podcast talked about a new Sparkling Green Tea with Pineapple Juice and Sparkling Watermelon Lemonade Water, which has zero calories, sugar and sweeteners.
