Sprouts Farmers Market is feeding recipes that feature their own brand products to users of the  MyFitnessPal app and online platform, becoming the first retailer sponsor of the platform.

The recipes are enhancing the MyFitnessPal Recipe Discovery feature that gives users a search to find recipes to cook. Sprouts will add more than 100 recipes, highlighting fresh ingredients available at Sprouts, and the retailer told Store Brands that many will feature Sprouts Brands products.

Premium members of the platform save recipes directly within their profiles to count toward their fitness goals set within the app, and to date 2,169 Sprouts recipes have been enjoyed by users of the app, according to the retailer.

Sprouts will also publish articles in the MyFitnessPal blog, as part of its sponsorship. A recent article shared a list of hydrating produce for the summer like cantaloupe and watermelon that are made up of 90% or more water and have nutrients and vitamins, as well as key vegetables for the summer.

Sprouts has teamed up with MyFitnessPal previously, last year creating the Squash Your Goals Challenge within the app that had users take on a New Year’s resolution goal to log in 20 meals in 30 days. The challenge generated nearly 121,000 users logging in 5.2 million healthy meals inside the app.

The MyFitnessPal app and online program launched in 2005 and is used by consumers to log in healthy activity and meals to track healthy versions of themselves. The program has more than 500 recipes and includes reviews on more than 14 million foods. The app also has workout routines, all from registered dietitians and trainers.

Phoenix-based Sprouts focuses on its farm-stand heritage to provide better-for-you products and operates more than 360 stores in 23 states nationwide.
