Southeastern Grocers has been named America’s most trusted grocery company by Newsweek in a new survey. The Florida-based company operates through five southern states and is known for its extensive and award-winning private label selection.

Newsweek and Statista looked at publicly traded U.S. corporations in 22 industries with $500 million or more in annual revenues and then surveyed 50,000 U.S. residents on their feelings towards the companies. The winners included 400 companies ranked by industry.

In the retail category, Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie, was ranked third overall, behind Barnes & Noble and United Natural Foods, making it the most trusted grocery retailer.

Southeastern Grocers was followed by Kroger and Costco in the top 10. The full list of winners can be found here.

“We are honored to be included in Newsweek’s list of America’s Most Trusted Companies,” said Raymond Rhee, chief people officer at Southeastern Grocers. “As a people-first organization, we know trust is an integral part of our culture that enables us to foster an inclusive environment where everyone is empowered to be their full, authentic selves. We take pride in caring for our associates, customers and communities, and we are committed to being a neighbor and grocer they can always count on.”

Southeastern Grocers philanthropic efforts, as well as its rewards programs surely helped it earn the title of one of America’s most trusted companies. The company recently announced a donation of sales from its private label vodka to Ukrainian relief efforts. Also, Southeastern Grocers rewards program at Winn-Dixie earned recognition from Newsweek recently.

Southeastern Grocers has also touted its diversity efforts in making it a trusted shopping destination.

“As a people-first organization, SEG has continued to advocate for belonging, inclusion and diversity,” said the company. “The grocer participated in four Pride festivals throughout its home state of Florida in 2021 and was recognized by the National Diversity Council as a top employer for Latino leaders in response to its extraordinary commitment to Latinos in the workplace. SEG is also a proud member of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce, a supporter of the National Diversity Council CEO Antiracism Pledge and a supporter of LGBTQ Workplace Equality as a Corporate Equality Index participant.”
