Red Gold to offer non-GMO tomato products in BPA/BPS-free cans

Red Gold, an Elwood, Ind.-based processor and canner of tomato products under its own brands and for private labeling, announced that nearly all (90 out of 93) of its canned tomato products produced under the company’s four own labels are now packed in non-BPA/BPS-lined cans and are non-GMO Project Verified. The company said it is the first tomato brand to offer Non-GMO Project Verified products in a non-BPA/BPS-lined can and credits its close working relationships with its suppliers as critical to achieving this industry first. No major changes were made to Red Gold’s growing and canning operations to receive the verification.

According to a company spokesperson, Red Gold will be encouraging its retailer clients to transition their private brands to the non-BPA/BPS-lined cans and Non-GMO Project Verified products.
