QVC Group Shifting HSN North, Cuts 900 Jobs
QVC Group is consolidating its operations to West Chester, Pa., as the television and digital-focused retailer will transition HSN north from its longtime home in St. Petersburg, Fla.
As part of its reorganization efforts, the company is also cutting 900 jobs across HSN, QVC US, and its Global Shared Services. The final day of employment for individuals in the spots being eliminated was March 27.
The latest moves are part of the company’s pursuit of three priorities as part of its WIN growth strategy:
- Wherever She Shops: Drive live shopping content to everywhere she spends her time
- Inspiring People and Products: Create the world’s leading live social shopping content engine, inspiring human connection with incredible finds
- New Ways of Working: Lean into technology and continuous improvement to fund expansion onto new platforms and into new audiences
The layoffs and shift of HSN to Pennsylvania are the latest moves by QVC Group to boost business. In February, the company officially changed its name to QVC Group from Qurate Retail, Inc. Company officials said the decision was made to highlight the brand equity of the company’s largest brand and support its effort to expand into a live social shopping company.
David Rawlinson II, president and CEO, QVC Group, Inc., said the company is reimagining itself to grow in new places by leaning into streaming and social platforms. Additionally, Rawlinson in March received a contract extension that will keep him in the CEO spot through the end of 2027.
In mid-March, QVC Group announced the hiring of Alex Wellen as its president & chief growth officer. He has more than 20 years of experience in digital media, product innovation, and driving growth strategies and will report to Rawlinson.
In his new role, Wellen will define and lead QVC Group's growth strategy across U.S. social selling, streaming, digital (qvc.com and hsn.com), new business development, and platform distribution.
