Publix Recalls Private Label Egg Custard Pie

The notice from the grocer includes products sold in select Southern Florida counties during October and November.

Publix said certain egg custard pies may contain a coconut allergen.

Publix Super Markets has voluntarily recalled specific batches of its private label Egg Custard Pie that may contain an undeclared coconut allergen.

Announced by the United States Food & Drug Administration, the recalled includes pies purchased at Publix stores in Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach counties in Florida between October 20, 2023, and November 16, 2023. The products in question contain the GTIN# 4141537891.

According to the grocery, the Egg Custard Pie package may contain a coconut pie. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to coconut may run the risk of serious life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products.

"As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted products have been removed from all store shelves," said Maria Brous, Publix director of Communications. "To date, there have been no reported cases of illness. Consumers who have purchased the product in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund.”
