Publix to expand headquarters, add 700 corporate jobs

Publix Super Markets just keeps getting bigger. The Lakeland, Fla.-based grocery retailer will expand its Lakeland headquarters by 190,000 square feet and add 700 jobs by the end of 2027, the retailer announced in a press release. The total square footage of Publix headquarters will then exceed 500,000 square feet, according a report in the Orlando Sentinel.

Since the construction on the current corporate office was announced in 2001, the chain has entered three additional states, more than doubled its annual sales, opened more than 500 new stores and added about 70,000 associates, the press release added.

“These additional jobs will help us support our store associates as they continue to provide the premier service our customers expect,” said Publix CEO and President Todd Jones. “We are proud of the role we continue to play in the great state of Florida.”
