DEADLINE EXTENDED! Private Label Hall of Fame 2023 Nominations

The Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA) and Store Brands are joining forces, looking to the private label industry for nominations for the Private Label Hall of Fame Class of 2023.

Who is the best in the business? Who is a leader not only in his or her organization, but someone who has set new standards in the world of private label?

The Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA) and Store Brands are joining forces, looking to the private label industry for nominations for the Private Label Hall of Fame Class of 2023. 

This year, the Hall of Fame will feature honorees in four categories: Lifetime Achievement, Private Brand Champion, Private Brand Innovator, and Next Gen Private Label Leader. Each category has its own unique set of criteria (see below) as PLMA and Store Brands look to honor leaders across the career spectrum who have spent their professional careers developing new initiatives and driving the private label industry forward.

Deadline for nominations is Tuesday, Jan. 31. For more information, please email PLMA at [email protected]. Winners will be announced at PLMA’s 2023 Annual Meeting & Leadership Conference from March 22-24 in Orlando.

Lifetime Achievement - minimum 25 years of experience

  • An individual who, over the span of her/his career, has distinguished herself or himself as a leader of store brand development and innovation -- as a manufacturer, retailer, broker, supplier, or operating in an allied field. 
  • Among other accomplishments: advanced the growth of store brands through the creative use of marketing, merchandising and promotions; 
  • Pioneered widely adopted business practices, strategy, and tactics; 
  • Made significant contributions to store brand advancement in manufacturing, packaging, and quality assurance;  
  • Demonstrated a pattern of mentorship throughout the span of his/her career to advance the growth and careers of those they have led.
  • Is a recognized advocate for store brands within her or his own organization, the wider business community, the media or in the consumer marketplace.

Private Brand Champion

  • A high-level commitment to a career in the private label/own brand industry.
  • A track record of developing successful initiatives that lead to growth in the private label industry.
  • Leadership that inspires others to do great things while continually sharing knowledge and helping others in their companies and communities.
  • Have a vision and a determination that cuts through barriers and obstacles that includes a willingness to take calculated risks as part of an effort to evolve private label and change the business environment.
  • Nominees demonstrate logical, analytical, practical and realistic thinking and actions in leading their organization.

Private Brand Innovator

  • An individual who has developed new programs and initiatives that demonstrates out-of-the-box thinking leading to a new way of doing business, has introduced new product categories or used non-traditional methods of promotions.
  • A unique ability to identify ever shifting consumer trends to stay ahead of new customer/shopper needs and keep the private label industry moving forward.
  • A strong desire to overcome obstacles and cut-through conventional thinking in the private label industry.
  • Have identifiable personality traits that have allowed him/her to succeed and see opportunities where others may not.

Next Gen Private Label Leader (40 and under)

  • The individual is an innovative thinker and adept at identifying and developing new ways to tackle current-day challenges and ultimately improving the level of service to customers/shoppers.
  • Serve as an inspiration to others through his/her leadership, vision and accomplishments.
  • Shows a high-level of commitment to his/her career, their company, and the communities that are served by his/her company.
  • The individual is involved in working with industry organizations. Involved with industry organizations or within their own company to address current social issues relevant to CPGs (i.e. sustainability, food insecurity, climate change).
