In place of the live keynote address that Jim Donald, co-chairman and CEO of Albertsons, was going to present at the Organic Produce Summit, a free virtual session will be held July 9. Donald will talk about the current retail landscape that has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and particularly the organic market. Albertsons’ store brand O Organics is one of the largest brands of USDA-certified organic products, carrying more than 1,000 products in its portfolio, exclusive to the retailer.

The talk will be moderated by Kevin Coupe, founder of Morning News Beat.

Donald has more than 45 years of experience in the industry, including time in food, hospitality and retail, starting at Publix Supermarkets. He also served as CEO of Starbucks, seeing same-store sales grow by double digits during his tenure. He joined Albertsons in March 2018.

“While we are disappointed we will not be able to hear Jim and Kevin live and in person this year, we are thrilled they both agreed to do this session for OPS. Jim is looking to share his thoughts on some of the hottest topics facing our industry, from the pressure on growers and the supply chain, to the burgeoning growth of direct to consumer online ordering, and the role of leadership during these troubling times,” said Susan Canales, President of the Organic Produce Summit.

Attendees can register here for the virtual session.
