In a move to further position itself as a standalone company, Nielsen’s Global Consumer Business announced its global headquarters will be in Chicago, beginning Jan. 1, 2021.

The LEED Silver certified office at 200 W. Jackson Blvd. already is Nielsen’s largest office in the United States, and it will be given a refresh and further investment to make it the home of the insights and analysts group.

The company said the location is ideal to collaborate with technology partners and serve its retailer and consumer goods clients, many of whom are based in Chicago.

“Nielsen was founded in Chicago, Arthur Nielsen revolutionized consumer measurement and data here, and becoming a separate company is an opportunity to return our headquarters back to our original home. We believe that Chicago is a great place to build upon our technology lead and continue to disrupt the industry,” says David Rawlinson, CEO of Nielsen’s Global Consumer Business. “Coupled with Chicago’s long-standing reputation for diverse talent, establishing our headquarters here will help us on our journey to define the future of e-commerce measurement and data, and build a world-class culture.”

Nielsen’s Global Consumer Business currently employs around 30,000 employees in nearly 100 countries around the world. The Chicago office employs a team of more than 600 people, and the company is looking to add 50 jobs over the next two years.
