Little Big Farm Foods’ new production facility in Newmarket, N.H., is starting 2023 running at full capacity as the company has passed its Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Safe Quality Food (SQF) audit.

The latest news follows the company’s announcement this past fall that it was expanding operations and moving into its new facility that houses production, warehousing and its corporate offices.

The approved audit completes a process that started in 2021 after the company, which makes clean label baking mixes, recognized a need for a larger, more efficient facility in order to grow its business. Company CEO Fern Phillips and COO Gus Bybee decided to automate mixing and filling equipment and discovered the Chain-Vey System, from ModernProcess Equipment in Chicago.

The newly opened facility features an integrated, self-cleaning, mixing and filling process using the Chain-Vey Tubular Drag System

“Finding it harder and harder to maintain the workforce, we needed to meet demand for our products, we knew we had to find a way to automate our equipment,” Phillips said. “We were fortunate to work with the Chain-Vey Team to design the perfect mixing and packaging system to meet our specifications. This is a win for us and for our customers.”

Bybee added, “We realized that to better serve our customers and their markets we needed more flexibility and agility on the production floor. The Clean-in-Place design allows faster changeovers between products. Our new facility is the answer to our current and future manufacturing needs.”

Little Big Farm Foods develops and manufactures innovative, premium quality, clean label dry mix products for own brand initiatives and the Little Big Farm Foods brand.
